Jes Grew & Atonism Today

In class, we talked about the current state of Jes Grew. Something that stood out to me was how Jes Grew would probably be a part of popular culture and could be mistaken for just entertainment. I started to think about how some movies, shows, music, etc could be a form of Jes Grew. To me, current day Jes Grew would probably be any form of protest art. Art is a form of entertainment, and if it’s protesting anything, it’s usually for something “natural”, and Jes Grew is pro-natural stuff.

One of my favorite musicians is Grandson. I’d classify most of his songs as protest art. His song “Blood // Water” is about political corruption, “Thoughts and Prayers” is a critique of American gun laws, “6:00” is about police brutality, and “Overdose” is about drug abuse. The list goes on and on. I really like listening to his music because it not only has a nice sound, it also addresses these social issues. Grandson is able to make fun music while getting important messages across. He also seems like a guy that would fight an atonist. An atonist would probably tell a musician to never say anything political, but Grandson over here is doing the opposite.
Anyway, I think Grandson is pretty cool and could be considered a modern form of a Jes Grew Carrier.
He has this wacky video that was pretty cool too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oqF86vdyPE

I also like watching movies, including Bollywood movies. Generally, when people think of Bollywood, they think of these theatrical and dramatic stories and how there’s so much singing and dancing. It’s also usually a wacky love story. Maybe that’s just what the atonists want you to think!? Atonists are pro-white superiority in every aspect, including the movie industry. Maybe the atonists want you to think that Indian movies are just the same overly dramatic stories again and again, so of course, you should just stick to the great movies that come out of Hollywood. Well here are some great movies that exist that aren’t what people might expect. Gully Boy is about a Mumbai street rapper and what’s cool about his music is that it highlights inequalities between classes. Of course, there’s music in this movie but it’s not a cute love song like “Bole Chudiyan”, instead you have “Mere Gully Mein”. Another movie that highlights the difference between classes is Hindi Medium. These parents want to get their kid into a good school, and they’ll do whatever it takes – even live in the slums. English Vinglish is a cute movie about an Indian housewife who learns English, but it ends up being more than that. Tumhari Sulu is about another Indian housewife. She ends up being a night DJ on a radio station which is wild. Did you know there are also Indian thrillers? Pihu was a great movie where get to watch the adventures of a 2-year-old while home alone, which is super terrifying! As you can see, there’s a lot more to Indian movies than just dramatic love stories. Some of these movies are a lot better than American movies, which atonists don’t want you to know.

So, what are the current states of Jes Grew and atonism? I think a form of Jes Grew is protest art, like Grandson’s music. Atonists are still trying to perpetuate white supremacy. They still want people to think white culture >>> any other culture. There are a lot of examples of this, I just gave one. What do you guys think? Can you come up with any examples?

  1. I didn’t think about it in this context, but you’re totally right! I have a picture in my head of what Bollywood “is,” and it’s usually just a stereotypical dance scene/love story – something that’s demonstrably inaccurate, but that I’ve internalized from the white-centric culture and entertainment I grew up with.
And so *puts Ishmael Reed suspicion goggles on* that begs the question – do we have that conception of Bollywood as frivolous and lesser than American Hollywood simply as the unintentional cultural blindness of the “dominant” culture, or is that vision purposefully fostered in us by the Atonists that run our society? To help entrench America further in its white superiority? *takes goggles off*
Yeah I don’t know. Nice example though.
